Pilgrim Center Legacy Society

Would you like to create a legacy for the future?

When you designate a planned gift to the Pilgrim Center, you will be invited to join the Pilgrim Center Legacy Society. Founded by our generous donor, Richard Ong, our Legacy Society is a community of generous supporters who are creating an endowment for continued support for the programming of the Pilgrim Center.

From the peaceful Pilgrim Labyrinth & Butterfly Garden to the exuberant throngs of children at the Spring Frolic on Easter Sunday, our free, inclusive programs are a midtown Kansas City tradition, and you can help them stay that way. There are several ways to give.

Wills and Living Trusts

Charitable bequests made through wills or revocable living trusts are a simple way to support the Pilgrim Center. Bequests can reduce estate taxes, are flexible, and are easy to arrange.

Retirement Plan Assets

For many individuals, donating some or all of the assets from an IRA, 401(k), or other qualified retirement plan, is an easy option. Gifts can be made through your estate or even during your lifetime.

Tax-Free IRA Contributions

The Tax Relief Act allows individuals over the age of 70-1/2 to donate as much as $100,000 from their IRAs and Roth IRAs to nonprofit organizations tax-free. These distributions count toward the required minimum annual distribution of IRA holders who are 70-1/2 or older. If contributed directly to a non-profit organization, the donor is not required to pay income taxes on the withdrawal.

Other Options
As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Pilgrim Center gratefully accepts alternative contributions such as: real estate, annuity contracts, tangible personal property, life insurance, and U.S. Savings bonds.

The Pilgrim Center Legacy Society was founded by donor, friend, and volunteer, Richard. M. Ong. Richard was a hands-on philanthropist who valued the difference that volunteering and charitable giving can make. Without Richard, we would not have our Legacy Society.
