2021 Pilgrim Run 5K!

The Eleventh Annual Pilgrim Run 5K on Thanksgiving Day is coming back to Hyde Park this fall! While it's hard to be sure what the COVID situation will be come November, we are planning an in-person event for Thanksgiving Day, 2021.
At the Pilgrim Center, we support our community. And we feel the safest path for this year's 5K is to require proof of vaccination for all in-person participants. We know it will be an inconvenience and more work on our side, but we want to do our part to say goodbye to COVID-19 in 2021!
Please note: ALL IN-PERSON REGISTRANTS MUST SUBMIT PROOF OF VACCINATION VIA A PHOTOGRAPH OF THEIR COVID-19 VACCINATION CARD. This can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you do not submit a photograph of your vaccination card at registration, we will contact you to request one. ALL PRE-REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS MUST SUBMIT PROOF OF VACCINATION BY WEDNESDAY, NOV. 24, 7:00 P.M. OR THEIR REGISTRATION WILL BE FORFEITED.
We will be confirming vaccinations and registering people at our drive-through Packet Pick Up on Wednesday, Nov. 24 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the race on Thanksgiving Day, but YOU MUST BRING YOUR PROOF OF VACCINATION IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY PROVIDED IT.
Of course we're keeping the virtual option, too. If you are NOT vaccinated, please consider this option. We look forward to next year when, hopefully, none of this will be necessary! That means you can join us in Hyde Park to run the race with your friends and family, OR you can participate virtually, however YOU feel most comfortable.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Community Programs of the Pilgrim Center.
The start and finish (both southbound) will be just north of the Pilgrim Chapel, 3801 Gillham Road.
• The course will take runners and walkers along Gillham Road, through the Hyde Park neighborhood, and past Hyde Park the park.
• All in-person 5K participants (runners & walkers) are chip timed.
• The course has been certified by the USATF.
5K runners and walkers will receive a long sleeve color T-shirt (shirts not guaranteed if registering after Nov. 14).
Age Groups: 9 & Under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-84, 85+.
First, second, and third place medals are awarded in each division, and Male and Female Masters each are awarded a custom-engraved stainless steel Yeti travel cup.
The Children's Dash for kids 8 & under is held at the conclusion of the 5K run and walk. Divisions are: 4 & Under, 5-6, and 7-8. The younger two divisions run 100 yards and the older division runs 200 yards. Dash participants receive a T-shirt (not guaranteed if registering after Nov. 14).

I registered but can’t participate. Can I transfer my registration to next year or give it to a friend?
No. We’re sorry, but there are no refunds and registrations must be used this year by the person who registered.
I have friends who would like to help. How can they volunteer?
That’s great! Ask them to email us at email@example.com. We'll put them to work!
What charitable organization will my participation benefit?
ALL PROCEEDS (not canned food collected, not a percentage of profits, but ALL PROCEEDS) of the Pilgrim Run 5K benefit the community programs of the Pilgrim Center. Each year the Center presents free programming like the Spring Frolic and Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday and the month-long Hyde Park Film Festival, Fridays in June. This year we partnered with the Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation Department to add monthly concerts in our Pilgrim Labyrinth & Butterfly Garden and Cornerstones of Care to raise awareness about issues facing foster children in our communities.
When is packet pick-up?
Packet pick up is Wednesday, November 24, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at a location to be determined. If you cannot pick up your packet, we can mail it to you for an additional $6.00 fee. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about having your packet mailed to you.
How do I submit my results for my virtual 5K?
Once you have registered for the 2021 Virtual Pilgrim Run 5K, you will receive an email with a link that will allow you to submit your results. Don't forget to share those finish photos to Facebook or Instagram and tag us @pilgrimrunkc and include the hashtag #pilgrimrun2021 Click here for more information about submitting your results to us.
Can I bring my dog to the Pilgrim Run 5k in-person event on Thanksgiving Day?
Sorry, no. We love our fur babies, too, but dogs can be problematic when lining up for the race.
Can I push my child in a stroller at the in-person Pilgrim Run?
Sure! We just ask that you line up near the back of the group, with the walkers.
